It’s been a busy week of resort shows in New York: we’ve gone from Gucci in Times Square to Louis Vuitton at the Frick, two very different Manhattan personalities! Now we’re hurtling into Memorial Day weekend, the tentpole of which will be, for my family, Arthur’s Disney villain-themed sixth birthday party. Poor unfortunate souls!

A Frick Trick
Yesterday Nicolas Ghesquière showed Louis Vuitton’s cruise 2027 collection at the Frick Collection, where the house also just announced a three-year partnership to support the museum’s programming (including free admission on the first Friday of every month) and art historical research. It was a delight to see the Vuitton boxing gloves and Keith Haring figures on bags set against the soaring Gainsborough canvases. What a rich season for artist collabs, between Haring for LV and Ruscha for Dior!

Times Square or Nowhere
In a nice 180 from the Frick, we spent last Saturday night in the middle of Times Square for Demna’s GucciCore 2027 show. I am still thinking about the feat of coordinating the AV for more than 50 billboard screens, and the models using Blue Fin Sushi as their backstage. I loved how streamlined but sumptuous the collection felt, and its ode to—or send-up of—New York characters, from the commuter with Gucci yoga mat to the uptown lady who lunches (in this case, a brunette Paris Hilton).

Aryna’s Arena
The French Open’s first-round matches begin this weekend, and we have the world No. 1 player Aryna Sabalenka as this month’s digital cover. To be frank, I am not the tennis hound that some of my colleagues are—one in particular—but after reading Rob Haskell’s fantastic profile, I am all-in. And I swoon for Steven Klein’s striking glamour shots.

Weekenders
It’s that time of year when half of the brand invites in my inbox are for events somewhere on the eastern end of Long Island. If you’re Hamptons-bound this long weekend (I am not!), we’ve updated our editors’ guide to the area. (Don’t miss the pickled rye bread at Carissa’s.) And I love the shopping team’s edit of Memorial Day outfit ideas.

Oh Gnome You Didn’t!
I don’t get to London often, but I’ve always wanted to go to the Chelsea Flower Show—and British Vogue’s street style coverage makes me feel like I’m there. Controversially, this is the first year gnomes have been invited to be part of the show, and celebrities like Cate Blanchett even designed their own!

Fishing and Fishsticks
My social calendar was rounded out this week by a stop at Joana Avillez’s book party for the new edition of The Bottom of the Harbor—Joseph Mitchell’s canonical 1959 collection of essays about the New York City waterfront—which she beautifully illustrated. Crucially, the fishnet design on my Altuzarra dress matched the end paper! Later in the week, I went to the Central Park Playground Partners’ Annual Family Party, which raises money to keep Central Park’s playgrounds swinging. I love this event for the MAC-watching (M.A.C. is my version of WAGs, but Moms and Caregivers instead of Wives and Girlfriends); it’s great for seeing what fashion houses are actually getting traction among the private-school-parent set. As it turns out, it’s a lot of Loewe, some Celine, and always Hermès.

As I Lay Tanning
Hannah Jackson did some intrepid reporting to test Kylie Jenner’s theory that whenever she thinks she’s depressed, she’s actually just pale and needs a spray tan. As we launch into summer months, there’s never been a better time to consider adding a fake tan to your SSRI cocktail!

Heated Rivals
I’m heading into the long weekend ready to catch up on Season 2 of Rivals, the sudsy Jilly Cooper adaptation that is apparently Queen Camilla’s favorite show. I also loved Netflix’s recent Martin Short documentary. Hear all about our summer culture picks on this week’s podcast.
